Wandusoa is establishing a consolidated, carbon-negative campus in Kamba (Mfou) that solves industrial carbon footprints in both construction and agriculture simultaneously. We run an intensive 9-month "learning by doing and earning" training hub for displaced youth, single mothers, and widows. Our campus combines a zero-waste Cassava Transformation Enterprise with an eco-learning center designed by Journeyman International. The climate mechanism is twofold: we eliminate high-emission concrete by constructing our campus facilities out of local subsoil using manual Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB), and we actively turn degraded agricultural land into massive carbon sinks. By teaching multi-crop permaculture, continuous biological cover cropping, and zero-chemical inputs, our cohorts capture carbon back into the soil matrix. The entire model is financially self-sustained by processing and selling value-added organic products, proving that local climate resilience is highly profitable.

What is the issue addressed?

Modern industrial food systems and construction methods are massive global greenhouse gas emitters. In Cameroon, over 75% of arable land is severely degraded due to unsustainable farming, reliance on imported chemical fertilizers, and heavy tillage, which forces carbon out of the soil and into the atmosphere. Simultaneously, rural infrastructure relies on high-embodied-carbon industrial cement. This dual crisis strips rural communities of economic agency, increases deforestation pressures in the Congo Basin, and generates substantial organic methane emissions from open agricultural waste dumping.

How is the problem solved?

Our Kamba campus provides a direct, highly scalable blueprint to tackle these emissions through three technical mechanisms: Infrastructure Decarbonization: We completely replace carbon-intensive cement by building our facilities using manual Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB) sourced directly from site subsoil. Soil Carbon Sequestration: Our 9-month immersive curriculum trains youth in four strict regenerative pillars: continuous cover cropping to stop weather erosion, zero deep-tillage to protect soil fungal networks, absolute elimination of synthetic inputs to stabilize microbial balances, and rotational livestock integration for natural pest control and organic bio-fertilizer production. Closed-Loop Circular Economy: Our zero-waste cassava processing enterprise redirects 100% of organic processing byproducts, upcycling peels into nitrogen-rich field compost and fibrous waste into livestock feed, entirely eliminating methane emissions from organic decomposition.

How is this solution different?

Wandusoa is structurally distinct because it bridges ancestral, zero-cost climate adaptation with an optimized commercial model. Unlike standard training centers, our campus is a financially self-sufficient loop where agribusiness sales fund educational operations. Architecturally, we integrate low-impact earth-building methods with regenerative agriculture. Furthermore, our unique "Soil to Software" approach connects these physical interventions with open-source carbon tracking tools, proving that decentralized, community-led African hubs can reliably measure, scale, and maximize topsoil carbon sequestration at a fraction of the cost of industrial alternatives.
